AEM fpr & type R strut bar

I installed the AEM fpr on my GSR. I have a Type R strut bar on my car.. the AEM fpr fits but it is touch the bar..it rubs...I filed down the fpr a little bit and there is like .5mm of clearance...I am thinking of filing off the Type R strut at that point a little bit to increase some more clearance to compensate for engine's vibration and all..

anyone else installed their AEM fpr w/ Type R has this problem?

When I installed the aem on a blown si w/ hondata, I had to take the fp apart and rotate it and put it back together. Worked like a charm and no clearance issues now.

Well I don't know but GSR w/ JRSC, AEM fpr and Type R front tower strut bar combo rubs...barely rubbing but it will bolt on...I ended up pulling out the trusty drill with a grinder/sander plate and trim a bar off a little and the AEM fpr off a little..seesm to work for now

Rubbing problem solved...completely. A friend (mechanic) has a mill...we took the adaptor off and milled 1/4" off....the fit is perfect now. Wow...the mill is fantastic...he can make pulleys and all kind of craps on it.

Hmm.. looks like I might run into the same issue then. I have the AEM FPR and the comptech front strut tie bar.

Anyone have any suggestions? Something I can accomplish easily?

Thats wierd! I have an ITR and of course the type-R strut bar. There is enough space for the AEM FPR to mount without rubbing.

The fuel rail/mounting point for the fpr might be different on the itr vs. the gsr. Or maybe the intake manifold is different?

Yep, its different -
It seems only the GSR's and (normal) LS's have this issue. TypeR's and LS's with TypeR kits on them (ahem) have no such problems.

Just mill it down like I did..If you look at the adaptor, it is thick. The material (aluminum) is very soft so it won't take you much time to take some off. I took about 1/4" off which gave plenty of clearance for my strut bar.

Can't confirm this but I've heard that a Mugen strut bar will solve clearance issues with the AEM FPR.
Like I said, I cannot confirm this as I don;t have a Mugen strut bar, so don;t go blaming my ass if you buy one and it doesn;t fit.
